Constitution of the Cheshire East Filipino Community

Preamble

We, the members of the Cheshire East Filipino Community (CEFC), imploring the guidance of Almighty God, united by our shared Filipino heritage and our commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, friendship and excellence, do hereby establish this Constitution to guide the operation, governance and activities of our community.

Article I — Name and Domicile

The name of the organisation shall be Cheshire East Filipino Community (CEFC). The organisation shall primarily operate throughout the Borough of Cheshire East and may undertake activities in surrounding areas where appropriate.

Article II — Purposes and Objectives

  1. Foster friendship, unity and cooperation among Filipinos and their families living in Cheshire East.
  2. Promote mutual understanding, equality, diversity and inclusion among all communities.
  3. Encourage cooperation with local authorities, organisations, businesses and community groups.
  4. Promote the welfare and interests of Filipinos and all members of the local community.
  5. Preserve, promote and celebrate Filipino culture, traditions, history and heritage.
  6. Provide information and educational resources relating to the Philippines, its culture and its people.
  7. Organise cultural, educational, recreational, charitable and social activities that benefit the community.
  8. Support the wellbeing and personal development of Filipino workers, families and the wider community.
  9. Undertake any lawful activities that further the objectives of the organisation.

Article III — Membership

Membership shall primarily be open to Filipinos and their families residing within Cheshire East and surrounding areas. Individuals of all nationalities are warmly welcomed provided they support the aims and objectives of the organisation. Membership shall be free, voluntary and open without discrimination.

Article IV — Officers

The elected officers shall consist of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Auditor. The Committee may appoint additional officers, coordinators or representatives as necessary.

Article V — Rights and Responsibilities of Members

Members shall attend meetings where possible, participate in community activities, respect fellow members, support the aims of the organisation and act in a way that reflects positively upon CEFC.

Article VI — Members' Privileges

Members may vote at General Meetings, stand for election, participate in activities and access official records where appropriate and subject to data protection requirements.

Article VII — Meetings

An Annual General Meeting shall be held at least once each calendar year. Committee meetings shall be held as often as necessary.

Article VIII — Finance

The funds of the organisation shall be used solely to achieve its aims and objectives. Proper financial records shall be maintained. No officer or member shall personally profit from the funds except for properly authorised expenses.

Article IX — Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of members present and entitled to vote at a properly convened General Meeting.

Article X — Dissolution

If the organisation is dissolved, remaining assets after liabilities shall be transferred to another non-profit organisation or charitable body with similar aims. No member shall receive financial benefit from remaining assets.
