ABOUT US

Welcome

What we’ve done so far

🎉 1. Established and Grew a Community Network

Since its formation, the group has grown into an active network of Filipino residents and friends in the Cheshire East region, providing a space for cultural connection, support, and social activities. Support from partner organisations helped with formal setup and coordination.

🎉 2. Hosted Annual Barrio Fiesta Cultural Festivals

The community has organised Barrio Fiesta events in Queens Park, Crewe that celebrate Filipino culture with traditional food, music, dance, performances, parades, and community stalls:

  • 2024: Our first-ever Barrio Fiesta attracted strong local participation and a wide range of cultural performances, including traditional dance.
  • 2025: The second-year Fiesta returned with a theme of “Unity in Diversity” and an added focus on mental health & well-being, drawing crowds of thousands and involving local partners and performers.
  • 2026: Plans announced for a third annual Fiesta on July 25th, with expanded activities, celebrity guests, arts, food, stalls, and volunteer opportunities.

💃 3. Showcased Filipino Dance and Art

At these Fiesta celebrations, youth and cultural dance groups have performed:

  • Tinikling: A traditional Filipino folk dance that engaged audiences and encouraged cultural participation.
  • Pintados: A creative performance inspired by pre-colonial Filipino heritage brought to life by the troupe in partnership with other Filipino arts groups.

🤝 4. Promoted Cultural Exchange and Community Well-Being

The events organised by the community have helped:

  • Strengthen bonds among Filipino residents and with the wider Cheshire East populace.
  • Provide opportunities for social interaction, support networks, and shared celebration of Filipino identity.

Overall, the Cheshire East Filipino Community has established a growing cultural presence in the region, anchored by its signature Barrio Fiesta celebrations, cultural showcases, and community-building initiatives. If you’d like, I can list upcoming events or opportunities to get involved!
